{From Lodz, Poland, Przemek Blejzyk has an amazing talent for bringing the human form into a imaginative characters. I love that he can bring his “street style” into any subject or assignment and have stunning imagery to experience. He also does some large scale murals that are killer. Make sure to check out his blog for more of his works.}

Gorgeous Bird Paintings by Adam S. Doyle

Artist Adam S. Doyle who recently relocated to Hong Kong creates beautiful gestural paintings of birds, where the seemingly incomplete brushstrokes form the feathers and other details of the animal. In some strange way it reminds me of the story of the Renaissance painter Giotto who is rumored to have been able to draw a perfect circle without the aid of a compass, as if Doyle just picks up a dripping paint brush and in a few seconds paints a perfect bird. In reality his work demonstrates a profound control of the paintbrush and careful understanding of the mediums he works with.

Portraits Drawn with Tea, Vodka, Whiskey and Ink by Carne Griffiths

UK-based illustrator Carne Griffiths creates these striking portraits with uncommon mediums such as tea brandy, vodka, whiskey, graphite and calligraphy ink. His drawings most frequently explore human and floral forms, as says he’s “fascinated by the flow of line and the ‘invisible lines’ that connect us to the natural world.” The four pieces above are part of a limited edition postcard set just released by Griffiths, each of which comes in a fancy custom-illustrated, wax-sealed envelope.

Here’s a number of fantastic light painting shots by photographer Simon Berger. The first shot on top with the umbrella is just incredibly stunning, what a unique image.

Featuring the Atmospheric Collection by Tremaine Harris.
“These pieces is a 3 dimensional exercise in light, clarity and texture with a play upon subtly. With distance the work appears as spherical forms drifting in a sea of openness. Further examination and in close detail there is a fluid shifting movement of color, form, and transmittance.”

Very inspiring work.

Wine Stain Portraits by Amelia Fais Harnas

The work of Amelia Fais Harnas is a series of portraits involving wine stains and embroidery. Harnas has spent the last few months perfecting the technique and now has some two dozen works on display. Via her website:

A portrait artist at heart, I am particularly intrigued by the challenge of trying to control the unpredictable nature of wine bleeding through fabric in order to channel the equally imprecise nature of a person’s character. In addition, the sacred aspect of wine lends itself to religious iconography, reminding many of the Shroud of Turin: one who drinks wine may come to feel a certain level of saintliness sipping on this liquid form of divinity. So, this is a form of consecration.

I’m also fascinated by the aspect of control in how she forces the wine to create line and tones, it would be great to see a video of the process.

About:

I'm a Toronto-based interior designer, that's really more than just that. I think it's interesting to see how personalities show through what you post.

Throughout the weekdays, between 9am to 5pm, I sometimes post things I find online that are usually related to design in some way or the other. But after that, I have the 'randoms' queued up! You see my interest in design, art, illustration, architecture, photography, travel, & fashion, the things that make me laugh, that make me think, the things that excite me, and the things that I love. Soon, it won't be so random after all.
