{These are some randoms that I’ve been keeping on my desktop for a while now. They’re all from different projects, but can’t you just picture them all being in one?  Definite design consistency in these images. 1. Love this kitchen (I think this is also by Tamizo). 2. Love this desk. 3. From the Opus in Hong Kong by Yabu Pushelberg. 4. Love this bedroom’s upholstered wall. 5. Interesting wall squiggles from a Munge Leung project.}

{The Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto was designed by internationally renowned, Vancouver-based architect James Cheng. The  lobby design was by OMB. It draws on a neutral palette of cream travertine, bronze screens and oak wood detailing to create an elegant and timeless space. A Fazioli piano, handcrafted in Italy specifically for Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto, is a ‘one-of-a-kind’ example of master craft, finished in white oak. The first verse of Canadian singer and songwriter Joni Mitchell’s ‘My Old Man’ is engraved under its lid, where a custom, elongated stick ensures that the verse can be easily read by passers-by. The guest rooms, by CHIL feature modern bianco statuario marble washrooms with traditional Chinese vanities.}

{Loving the washed out, almost cerused wood tones lately in modern spaces. You see it a lot in this apartment. The contrast of the natural colour with the thin black shelves and ceiling really keep it sharp!}

{Here’s some working inspiration to start the Friday! A clean, minimalist, and elegant working space by Vincent Van Duysen. He handled not only the restoration of the space but also the interior design, and the design of much of the furniture. Most interesting about this elegant project is the fact that the office is not for a design studio or architectural firm, but for Belgo-Seeds, a business involved in global importing and exporting of agricultural products, especially seeds. A shelving unit with beautifully lit glass containers of seeds is the only direct reference to this. Love the lack of visual noise; the spaciousness, openness and sophistication achieved with the intelligent use of glass, screens and lighting.}

{With a pool at its center, this Long Island house by architects Shigeru Ban and Dean Maltz looks much like a David Hockney vision of L.A. A long hallway parallel to the pool connects the living room and master bedroom wings. One side of the corridor is made of glass, the other of oak-plywood cabinets that support the roof. Designer Shamir Shah added Palla wicker chairs by Giovanni Travasa, Chinese ceramic benches from Aero and sleek chaises by Henry Hall for relaxing outdoors.}

{Renderings for a subdivision project by Toronto-based Burdifilek. Bringing some of their clean urban flair to the burbs!}

{Random photos of the interiors of the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel in

Gothenburg, Sweden. Designed by Doos Architects.}

{Park St. Residence by Hecker Guthrie. Clean and contemporary. Loving the millwork.}

{This 1,000-square-foot studio, designed by Rick Joy, gets a dose of high drama with floor to ceiling linen drapes. Fastened to a recessed track in the ceiling, the fabric can be pulled completely shut around the bed – effectively creating a room with in a room.}

{Koichi Takada Architects. Ippudo Ramen Restaurant in Sydney. Love that undulating ceiling!}

{A traditional floor pattern, but rendered in a modern tile, I think. Love the contrast!}

{Selected residential works from Toronto’s own Cecconi Simone. Love their trademark look - contemporary and minimal. Note the vent fan for the range integrated into the ceiling in the first kitchen.}

About:

I'm a Toronto-based interior designer, that's really more than just that. I think it's interesting to see how personalities show through what you post.

Throughout the weekdays, between 9am to 5pm, I sometimes post things I find online that are usually related to design in some way or the other. But after that, I have the 'randoms' queued up! You see my interest in design, art, illustration, architecture, photography, travel, & fashion, the things that make me laugh, that make me think, the things that excite me, and the things that I love. Soon, it won't be so random after all.
