{Oscar Properties develops, buys and sells real estate in central Stockholm. They focus on a modern aesthetic creating a brand that everyone wants. I love these images but I can’t tell if they are renderings or the real deal. Some of these spaces are a nice integration of small touches of others styles.}

{The Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto was designed by internationally renowned, Vancouver-based architect James Cheng. The  lobby design was by OMB. It draws on a neutral palette of cream travertine, bronze screens and oak wood detailing to create an elegant and timeless space. A Fazioli piano, handcrafted in Italy specifically for Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto, is a ‘one-of-a-kind’ example of master craft, finished in white oak. The first verse of Canadian singer and songwriter Joni Mitchell’s ‘My Old Man’ is engraved under its lid, where a custom, elongated stick ensures that the verse can be easily read by passers-by. The guest rooms, by CHIL feature modern bianco statuario marble washrooms with traditional Chinese vanities.}

{Just random moments that caught my eye - modern stairs. a modern screen. and modern lighting options…}

{Loving the washed out, almost cerused wood tones lately in modern spaces. You see it a lot in this apartment. The contrast of the natural colour with the thin black shelves and ceiling really keep it sharp!}

{Not sure why, but I feel like these three images are speaking to each other. The dining room, I know, kind of feels like a hiccup in the trio, but I think it would be easy to apply the basic ideas of that dining room and render it in the woodsy but clean and modern feel you see in the other images.}

{Love this! It’s totally McQueen in interior design form.}

Conceived by creative director Sarah Burton as a space ‘steeped in the codes of the house’, the intimate yet striking interior of 9 Savile Row is designed by David Collins - who is also responsible for the new women’s store concept.

A stunning floor of smashed and reassembled Nero Argento marble leads into the main body of the shop, which has retained its original parquet floor. Here, pieces from the ready-to-wear line - hung on a brass rail that on closer inspection is carved like the vertebrae of a spine - preside over a narrow central red carpet, inspired by military parades.

Natural motifs - a strong McQueen theme - are rife throughout. Some are immediately apparent, such as the romantic English country house white panelling (which Burton herself had a hand in casting). Others are amusingly subtle, like a claw-shaped set of cabinet feet, a tiny golden skull, or twisted horn-like cabinet handles.

A giant glass box at the far end of the store marks an exhibition space that is set to host a changing roster of art installations. Curated by Sadie Coles, it currently houses ‘Icon’, a 2006 sculpture by Sarah Lucas, depicting dancer Michael Clark.

{Keith Interior Design & M2K Architecture have designed a privately owned penthouse apartment in the One&Only Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa.

{Designed by  Cecconi Simone, the Toronto showroom of Sub-Zero & Wolf appliances has a simple and easy-to-understand design. The refrigerators and freezers are in the blue section, and the cooking appliances are in the red. My favourite part is behind the appliances showroom,  in a lounge with a wall of backpainted glass with an ombre technique.}

{With both of his books in my library, the first designer I go to now for ‘traditional design’ inspiration is Darryl Carter. His approach is light but soulful, collected and deliberate. Earlier this year, he opened a store in Washington D.C., & you can see this approach throughout. His restoration of the building was intensive and yet it retained its soul. I particularly LOVE that you see the ‘ghost’ of the original stairs of the building (photo 8).}

{Here’s some working inspiration to start the Friday! A clean, minimalist, and elegant working space by Vincent Van Duysen. He handled not only the restoration of the space but also the interior design, and the design of much of the furniture. Most interesting about this elegant project is the fact that the office is not for a design studio or architectural firm, but for Belgo-Seeds, a business involved in global importing and exporting of agricultural products, especially seeds. A shelving unit with beautifully lit glass containers of seeds is the only direct reference to this. Love the lack of visual noise; the spaciousness, openness and sophistication achieved with the intelligent use of glass, screens and lighting.}

About:

I'm a Toronto-based interior designer, that's really more than just that. I think it's interesting to see how personalities show through what you post.

Throughout the weekdays, between 9am to 5pm, I sometimes post things I find online that are usually related to design in some way or the other. But after that, I have the 'randoms' queued up! You see my interest in design, art, illustration, architecture, photography, travel, & fashion, the things that make me laugh, that make me think, the things that excite me, and the things that I love. Soon, it won't be so random after all.
